Cardinal Gagnon calls the "New Creation Series" morally offensive.

In a letter he wrote to other families, who also objected to the "New Creation Series," Cardinal Edward Gagnon, Prefect for The Pontifical Council for the Family, supported parents, and condemned the "New Creation Series." The Cardinal was not supported by his brother cardinals at the Congregation for Education and the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith. He urged parents to write in protest. I did by writing Cardinal Ratzinger 1989.

Dear Friends,

I am in receipt of your kind letter of June 26th together with the relative documentation regarding the "New Creation Series."

The recently published letters of Cardinals Ratzinger and Baum do not change my previous opinion, nor that of this Pontifical Council for the Family, about the New Creation Series.

You bring to my attention the fact that the New Creation Series in both its original and revised editions, recommends authors and books which are objectionable. I am well aware of this. It is but one of the points about the New Creation Series which makes this series for sex education morally offensive. This serious defect of the Series cannot have been taken into account in the judgment rendered in the recent letters of the above Cardinal Prefects.

As parents. I would suggest that you forward your reasons for concern to the Prefects of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the Congregation for Catholic Education.
